This gem of a coffee is the definition of smooth and easy. It's creamy and chocolatey with a sweet orange note. Reminds me of Terry's chocolate orange. Light brown colours flash in my mind plus there is a hint of orange that pops up. El Pedregal is a family farm run by Fidencio Castillo and his daughters.

From the importer, Apex Coffee:

Finca El Pedregal is one of the first farms to produce coffee in Arboleda. Most residents here were initially weary of growing coffee due to the low temperatures in this area ranging from 10-12 degrees Celsius. Despite this challenge, the farm has access to many valuable resources such as the Juanambú stream which makes it a great location for producing high quality coffees. An ecosystem of different trees at El Pedregal also draw from this stream and work together to preserve the soil and protect the plantation from harsh winds.

Fidencio Castillo has a long history in coffee farming. He initially started with only 1500 Caturra and Colombia coffee trees, but with the help of his family, his farm now has over 20,000 healthy coffee trees in production. Under the influence of their father’s passion for coffee, 3 of Fidencio’s daughters (including star producer Francy) went to study agronomy and food processing-related degrees. Their ambitions were driven by the motivation to find new techniques for coffee processing. The family’s coordinated efforts to produce high-quality, unique coffees again this season is exciting for us and we are more than happy to share them with all of you.
