The Debo Washing Station in the Debo village of the Kochere district within Yirgacheffe, is possibly one of the most famous coffee-growing regions in all of Ethiopia and one of my personal favourites every year.

Coffee is delivered in cherry form by about 750–800 active farmers in the surrounding area. These farmers grow coffee alongside other household and commercial crops on very small plots of 1.5–2.5 hectares typically. Coffee is sorted then depulped the same day and fermented underwater for 24–48 hours depending on the weather. It is washed once before being spread on raised beds to dry which takes about 10–12 days.
